Title II Day of Action - June 14

06/10/2017 1:18 PM | Michael Simkins

ASCD is helping lead a national effort to support professional development (PD) and save federal funding for it. Educators from around the country will join together on Wednesday, June 14 for a “Day of Action!” Educators will stand together next week to tell Congress and the public about the importance of PD – for their effectiveness, for student achievement, and for school quality.

President Trump wants to cut all of the more than $2 billion earmarked for PD in the Title II program of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Cutting all of the funds that specifically support educators and school leaders is as miserly as it is misguided.

Mark your calendars for Day of Action on June 14, and join educators from across the country to email your lawmakers, engage in social media using the hashtag #PD2Learn, and help spread the word about the value of professional development. Right now, you can share your stories to highlight personal examples of PD and Title II money in action.
