STOP SB 1067 To all members of CATLL (California Association of Teaching, Leading and Learning) We are requesting your voice and support. SB 1067 is mandating math screening for students K-2 and set to go into effect in 2028-2029. This mandate comes with no additional funding and the burden will fall on school districts. We are joining with ACSA (Association of California School Administrators) and requesting that Governor Newsom veto this bill. Time is of the essence as he will be deciding by September 30. We encourage you to join us and sign this letter stating why this legislation is not supported. Along with the financial burden we are concerned about the time taken away from instruction in order to meet the requirements of all the additional testing. Our students do not need more testing. They need quality instructional time to meet the standards! Please use this link to sign the letter to the governor. Your support is extremely important https://acsa.org/help-us-stop-mandated-math-assessments-sb-1067 |

CATLL Position on Prop 98 funding used as genreal fund cushion
CATTL strongly opposes the use of Prop 98 funding as a general fund cushion at the expense of California schools. It is not legal nor ethical to use these designated funds for non-educational state expenses.
CATLL joins its coalition partners and demands the state immediately release the withheld $3.9 billion to schools as it was intended and voted on by the California voters. School districts require funding predictability to serve students effectively, and the state must respect the law by keeping Proposition 98 funds fully dedicated to TK-12 schools and community colleges.
"Education funding is a constitutional right, not a budget management tool."
